Update: 03/22/2008 This site's JavaScript interface for entering counties was pretty cool 10 years ago, but the site is showing its age so we have created a Flash interface that you should find even easier to use. If it doesn't work for you or if you don't like it, you will still be able to use the old JavaScript interface.
Update to update: I believe issues with the new Flash interface on the Firefox browser have been fixed.

Update: 03/27/2007 We all know that Google Maps is really cool, but we also know it had one giant defect -- no county lines -- until now. From this site and for your unrestricted use, county lines superimposed onto Google maps.
Update to update: I have heard from Netscape and Firefox users that this feature causes some problems on your browsers. I've looked into some workarounds but haven't come up with any good ones yet.

Always ones to let our competitive nature get the better of us, we (that's Bert, Mark, Chris, Marty, and all our like-minded friends) are keeping track of all the U.S. counties we've been to.

The rules are simple: you visit a county, then you count it. To visit a county, just cross the plane of the county line. Usually, you visit a county in a car, but it is possible to visit counties by biking, hiking, or even skiing. Generally, we don't count flying over a county, especially flying in a commercial jet airplane (it's just too hard to see the signs that say "Entering Beaufort County").
